Happiness

If I have learned one thing this school year, it has been to create my own happiness.  This year was full of a lot of ups and downs for me.  I had so many changes in my life, classes that made me cry, friend drama, dating drama; you name it.  Many of these things really stressed me out, but it wasn't until my breaking point that I finally came to the realization that I create my own happiness.

About three weeks ago I broke up with my boyfriend of two years.  He was really a sweet guy, but I just wasn't happy anymore staying in the relationship.  It finally got to the point where some of my best friends were telling me how upset and weird I had been acting and I realized I just wasn't happy.  After that, I couldn't do it anymore and I ended the relationship.  I know it sounds depressing, but it was really an eye opening event for me.  By breaking off a relationship I wasn't happy in I realized I could make my own happiness and I couldn't rely on other people or material things to do that for me.

So, go out and make your own happiness :) Don't depend on anyone else, but yourself to do that for you!

How did you/do you create your own happiness?

  1. Exactly, everyone is responsible for their own happiness - so wise of you to learn that lesson early on in life!

  2. I feel like learning to create you own happiness is SO important! Some of the most glamorous, blessed people I meed out here in Los Angeles are absolutely miserable, and some of the people who we would really consider "failures" by worldly standards are really enjoying their lives. It's not about circumstances, happiness is a choice, pure and simple! My friends probably regard me as the one who celebrates the opening of an envelope, but I love celebrating the small milestones! I feel like we need to all try to take joy in our day to day lives as much as we can.

  4. What a meaningful post! It's hard to come to these realizations sometimes, but they are absolutely essential to becoming a better person and learning how to deal with the world! I love the quotes "I am in charge of how I feel and today I choose happiness" i don't know who said it, but I have it hanging on my inspiration board reminding me every morning to choose happiness.

  5. I'm so glad you did what was right for you even though it was hard. I think in my life my relationship with my fiance is the only thing I don't have to question or think twice about. School, work, friends, family all come with a lot of drama so if your bf isn't your partner and is causing more stress, sometimes it's best to move on.

    Great post :)

  7. The only way I stay sane is by looking forward. Far, far forward. If I lose sight of who I want to be I end up absolutely chaotic and frantic and really unenjoyable to be around - even for myself! Proud of you for making big changes! Wow!

  8. I'm glad you're in a place where you know what you need to do to be happy! Sometimes being happy isn't the easiest route and you need to make hard choices, but you seem to really know how to get where you want to be. Love this post, Hunter! Thanks for sharing something so personal with us!
