Spring Stripes

I am absolutely in love with this stripe shirt from Pockets and Lace Boutique!  It has been one of the most comfortable and versatile pieces Frannie sent me by far.  For spring, this shirt is perfect with all of my chino shorts and even a pair of white jeans!  Needless to say, this is one of my favorite tops.

The necklace I have on is also from Pockets and Lace.  It is such a fun statement piece and it goes with a lot!  Make sure you use PREP2014 to get 25% off your next purchase at Pockets and Lace!

One more thing before I sign off--make sure you check out Tiny Tulip Monogramming's blog Preppy Monogram Style!  I just started as a new writer for their blog and I will be posting every Wednesday and Friday :)

What is your favorite spring tee?

Flower Patch

Now that it is getting warmer outside and I have a lot more free time, I am getting around to taking more outfit pictures.  Last week I worked on pulling together a few spring looks with Pockets and Lace Boutique.  I really love the clothes Frannie sent me and I am getting so much use out of them!  I can't wait to show you all the outfits I created; however, today I am going to feature this fun, patterned navy dress!

The two dresses Frannie sent me are so comfortable!  The fabric is super light and the length is great.  Both dresses hit right above the knee, which is the perfect length for any occasion.  Make sure you check out Frannie's boutique and use the code PREP2014 to get 25% off your purchase!

Prom Update!

Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend; however, I definitely needed to recover from prom.  It was so much fun!  Needless to say, I was a little worried because I went without a date, but it was actually really great.  I danced the entire night at prom and to top it off one of my best friends won prom queen!  She was so excited and it was great to see her in her crown!

After prom was alright.  We were all pretty much exhausted for the most part and we just wanted to sleep.  I did, however, love ice skating!  I was in the rink for an hour or so and I loved it!  Anyway, here are a few pictures from the night I thought I would share with you all :)

Prom was so much and I can't wait to do it again next year!

Are you going to prom this year?  What is one of your favorite prom memories?

Five on Friday

Well, guess what today is everyone-- that's right, its prom day!  I am so excited to go get ready with friends, take some great pictures, and have a night full of fun.  This year, as I mentioned before, our prom is Gatsby themed.  I just love this theme because it is so glamorous!  I cannot wait to see all of the decorations and I will definitely be Instagraming the night away.  Anyway, here are a few things I am loving this week!

1. My first post for Preppy Monogram Style... head on over to check out the full look and Tiny Tulip's great blog!

2. This guest post on TCP.

3. This dress I will styling on the blog soon.

4. A fun print I am going to add to my night stand.

5. This great maxi from Pockets and Lace

What are you loving this week?

Every Girl Should...

While shopping at Charming Charlies--I highly recommend by the way-- my friend and I came across a crown rack.  I was so excited because a) what girl doesn't love a tiara and b) these were legit tiaras!  Of course I ended up buying one and this got me thinking... Every girl should feel like a princess.  Scratch that, every girl deserves to feel like a princess.

And I don't mean just in the sense of a relationship, I mean in life.  I feel like we often undervalue ourselves and how truly special we are.  Each one of us is unique, which is something we should honor.  We should allow ourselves to feel like princesses all the time because that is what we are: each a unique princess.  So, whether that means getting a little treat, splurging, or just taking the time to relax, make sure you are the princess you deserve to be :)

Prom

Well, if you have been following along, you know this week is prom week for me!  I am so excited, especially because I am just loving everything about prom this year.  Our theme is "Gatsby", which I didn't really follow haha--I went with a Carried Bradshaw, Sex and the City look--but I think it is a great theme.  The decor will be perfectly glitzy and I am sure the party favors will be so much fun!  Since I am getting ready for prom this week, I thought I would share my favorite hair and makeup tutorial.

Hair: The Elsa Braid

Makeup: Natural/Beachy

Are you going to prom this year?  What are some of your tutorials/tips?

Getting Over a Cold

Well I just happened to get a cold the week of prom... yay me haha; however, I plan on getting over this cold quick so I can enjoy the rest of the week and get my to do list done!  Whenever I am sick I have a specific list of steps I use to help get me over my cold.  They are pretty simple, but it is amazing how much they help!
Getting Over a Cold
I live by these 5 steps when I am sick and I couldn't stress the last two more.  Staying hydrated and getting sleep is super important in getting over a cold.

How do you get over a cold?  Any tips/tricks I should add?

Feeling Floral

What a great weekend!  Despite the fact I have a cold, Easter was so much fun.  I awoke to an Easter surprise from my sweet parents and then we went out to breakfast.  The rest of the day I pretty much sat around doing nothing, but it was what I needed.  My mom and I honestly binged on The Little Couple for three hours straight... it was fantastic.  Anyway, here is an outfit from this weekend.  I got the top from J.Crew on sale for only $18!  It is definitely worth it!

Aren't the trees just gorgeous?  It makes me so happy to wake up and see a bright pink tree in my yard!

What did you do for Easter?

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you have a great day!  Today I have some fun family plans, which, of course, includes lots of great food ;)

What are you doing today?

In a Funk

I was originally going to post a group of weekend links, but I decided against it because I really want to address the funk I have been in lately.  I keep telling myself it is just getting back into the swing of things from spring break; however, I can' seem to get back on track.  Everything is becoming too much of a job, but I am realizing I can't let that happen, especially with the blog.  I remember Carly Heitlinger saying something along the lines of "not letting your writing become a job".  That is what I am doing to myself: writing because I feel I have to write, which is not how it should be

Now that I am realizing what I have been doing to myself, I feel a lot better.  I feel like I can have a fresh start on my blog and get back to writing because I love to write.  I look forward to bringing you a lot of more fun and more "me" posts instead of the bland writing I have had the past few weeks.  Here's to getting out of the "funk"!

Have you ever felt like this?  Any coping advice?

Easter Outfit

On my Balance post, I asked for some post suggestions and one reader asked me to do an Easter outfit!  What I love about Easter is getting to wear fun bright colors and spending time with my family enjoying the holiday.  For my Easter Sunday I am going to be pulling out my favorite Lilly dress, Jack Rogers, and some fun accessories to finish off the look.  Here is a variation of what I will be wearing Sunday!

Easter Sunday

You can find the Lilly dress here, since I couldn't find a direct link picture on polyvore!  Also, I highly recommend checking out Nordstrom Rack for any sale Kate Spade items.  I recently bought my pink satchel there for around $180 and it was originally $350, so be on the look out for good deals like that!

What are you doing for Easter?  What do you normally wear?

Wishlist Wednesday

It has been such a long time since I made a "Wishlist Wednesday" post, mostly because there isn't much I have been really wanting needing to get; however, because it is spring, I have a few new items that I am really liking!
Wishlist Wednesday 4/15/14
1. C. Wonder Wedges: I thought these wedges were so cute and they actually look a little like the more expensive Tory Burch pair I have been eying lately.  They would go great with any spring outfit!

2. GiGi New York Clutch: No lie, I have wanted one of these since October.  They are perfect for any outfit, including prom haha.  I personally love the Iris Blue color!

3. J.Crew Factory Scarf: I got one of these last year and I absolutely adore it.  It is perfect for the spring weather, as it is nice and light.  The print on this one would be so much fun to style too!

4. Tulle Skirt: Just another thing I have been really wanting for a while.  I love the way these skirts can be styled and I would love to re-create a Sex and the City look if I purchased!

5. Jack Rogers Jelly Sandals: When it comes to sandals, I really like jelly sandals over everything else.  They are water-resistant, super easy to wear, and really comfortable; plus who doesn't love a fun pair of Jacks?

What is on your wishlist?

Balance

I feel like balance is something we all struggle with.  It is just so hard to find the perfect balance between school, friends, work, family and everything else in between; however, we just need to let life slide sometimes.  Not in a lackadaisical way, but more of a sitting back and letting life take you on a ride kind of way.  I have always been a strong believer that things, no matter how frustrating, will fall into place eventually; and that has been so true for me as of late.  Instead of majorly stressing over situations, I am just taking life one step at a time.  I have never felt better, although I do admit I have been slacking a little on the blog (no worries though!  I promise I am going to be a better blogger!).  This outlook honestly makes everything so much easier for me to handle and leaves me feeling relaxed and rested, and reader to get back on track with my life after everything that has happened over the couple of weeks.

How do you find your balance?

P.S. Does anyone have any post requests?  I would love to hear your ideas!
