Forgot to Post...

I got so caught up in packing for NYC, I totally forgot to share these wonderful pictures!!  Before I left, I helped the kids get ready for their first week of school, which included taking my favorite girls shopping.  We went to the mall and picked out some great outfits, which I am so happy to share with you now :)

For Hannah, we went with a cute chambray top layered over a lace tee with some white shorts (first picture).  It was such a great outfit for the first day of school and was perfect for her sporty, yet girly personality.

Esther opted for more of a street style option.  We found an awesome New York City cat t-shirt-- of course me, the crazy cat lady, loved this shirt haha.  We added some pink shorts and jean jacket to polish of the look!

It was so much fun to style my girls for their first day.  You would not believe how much I miss them!!

How did you style your kids for school?

Gingham for Fall

I love, love, love the red and oxblood hues I am seeing this fall...so, of course, I had to buy this red gingham skirt from Anthro.  To be honest, I wasn't going to buy the skirt until my roommate said I really should invest in it.  I am so glad I listened to her.

This skirt is probably one of the most versatile skirts I have seen in a while.  It is a great fit on anyone and can be worn from season to season.  I mean seriously, just think about it.  A picnic in a park during the spring; tights and closed toed heels in the fall/winter months.  Such a great piece!

What is your investment piece this season?

September Anthro Edits

Gosh it feels good to sit down and write some Anthro edits. These edits are probably my favorite posts to write, as I love styling pieces and giving my readers some fashion inspiration for the month!  And, of course, Anthro has done it again and I am loving all of the great fall pieces they are coming out with.

Okay, so much to talk about here.  First of all I am loving red and maroon for the fall.  They are beautiful colors for any skin tone and, honestly, can be worn anytime of the year.  I especially love adding a little pop here or there to bring some color into an outfit-- look to the cloche hat to do just that!

Another great investment piece in general, a black dress.  This is one of the pieces I justified buying because, gasp, I have no black dresses.  They are such an essential to any wardrobe and I really like the style and fit of the black dress above.

Last, but most certainly not least, the cat mug and the bird tote.  My style is super vintage and eclectic, so anything with an animal on it, you have me sold!  The bird tote is also on sale right now with and extra 30% off and, though I have not caved, I really want it.  If any of you want to send it to me, please do haha ;)

What are you loving from Anthro this fall?

P.S. A quick update: the no-shopping is going great!!  Other than a few essentials, I have been so good about not buying, probably because I have been so busy!!).

My New Home

Wow does it feel weird to sit down and write again-- weird in a good way of course.  Over the past week and a half I have been moving into my dorm in NYC and I just haven't had any time to sit down and write a good post on my blog, but don't worry, I am back at it again!!  I am hoping to post a few times a week if not every day, so look out for some posts from the big apple :)

For now, here is a little tour of my dorm!  I must say I have quite a great dorm and a great view of the city-- I couldn't ask for anything more, except maybe a visit with Seth because I miss him so much!  Seriously, it is so weird not having him to go to all the time, but, anyway, here is my new home!

Isn't it just great??  My desk area is a little messy still, but I don't really use it, so I haven't take much chance to clean it up haha.  I love my dorm though and I am so happy to be in such a great city!!

How was your first week of college?  Any one else want to share some dorm room inspiration?

OMG School!

Uhm, I leave for NYC in literally three days... is that not crazy?!?!  That said, I have so many mixed feelings about leaving for school.  I am super excited, but at the same time incredibly scared.

Everything I know is where I've grown up including my family, my best friend, and Seth.  The thought of being without them is so weird and unnerving that I have cried a lot over the past few days.  The unknown is terrifying and I keep asking myself, will Seth and I stay together? Will my career as an actress really work out?  I don't know, but that is okay.

For my acting school, I had a few books I needed to read before class and one really spoke to me-- Comfortable with Uncertainty by Pema Chondron.  Pema's book is all about accepting the uncertainty of life, enjoying everything that comes your way, and staying positive in the face of panic and fear.  It is such a great read and really has helped me get through my fears of leaving.

Here's to new adventures in NYC!
