Getting Healthy with Alex

Today I have a guest post from Alex who has recently started blogging!  She is such a sweet heart and you should definitely head over and check out her blog

Hey Everyone,

My name is Alex (also known as Preppy Alex). As you all know, it is the beginning of a new year and many people including me have new years resolutions involving working out and eating healthy. In the past few months, I have been trying to switch to a healthier lifestyle. Here are four tips that have helped me and can hopefully help you too.

1) Drink water. Try to cut out as much soda and juices as possible. Not many people know this but juices contain a lot of sugar, sometimes even more than soda. However, I understand that it is hard to drink water as some people don’t like the flavor or find it boring. What I do instead of drinking plain water is inserting a slice of lemon into my water. It keeps it interesting and it still fufills my daily requirement of water.

2) Do group classes. Doing workout classes like Zumba, Pilates or Body Conditioning are a great way to workout and get fit. Hour-long classes fly by, you get such a good workout, and sometimes I forget that I am exercising because I'm having so much fun!

3) Workout with a friend. I find it so much more motivating to go to the gym knowing that I’ll be going with a friend and have someone to talk to and keep me going when I feel like leaving. I always have a better workout when I have company.

4) Make little realistic changes. When I first tried to change my lifestyle I decided I wanted to cut out sugar, chips, soda, fries, and bread. For me, that was very unrealistic. I started making little changes such as having a piece of fruit when I came home from school instead of a chocolate chip cookie. Overtime, as you continue to make more small changes, you will soon enough be leading a healthy lifestyle. Don’t be afraid to treat yourself to that slice of pie or soda once in awhile though!

I hope you all enjoyed this post. I want to give a huge thank you to Hunter for allowing me to guest post on her blog today, she is one of my favorite bloggers.
