Why I Blog

One question I get asked a lot is a variation of "why do you blog"?  I thought, since this is such a frequent question, that I should address it on my blog.

To start out,  I think it would be best to explain how I started.  I wanted to write a blog for long time after I started reading A Preppy State of Mind and The College Prepster.  Finally I decided, what the heck, why not?.  I came up with the idea of a blog that would promote fashion on a budget because it is something that I strongly believe in.  So, I signed up for Blogger and began creating and designing my little online world, and it is basically history from there!

Now, onto why I blog.  There are so many reasons why I love blogging and why I have kept my blog going.  I guess the main reason for my love of blogging stems from my love of reading and writing.  Being able to write everyday is so great and really relaxing.  I love having a place to share my feelings and thoughts with others, which leads me into my next reason.  I love people.  I love getting to meet people through blogging and I have already formed some great friendships, that I am sure will last for a long time!  I also love getting to work with companies, as well, and it is a great perk that can come with blogging; however, I really love blogging simply for the fact of self expression.  Blogging helps me organize my thoughts, understand my life, and simply relaxes me.

Why do you blog?

  2. Like you, I blog to have a space to express myself creatively, plus it's fun (and very few people in academia appreciate fashion)!

  3. I just started my blog the other day for a lot of the same reasons! I definitely feel more organized, and enjoy meeting others who like fashion/prep like I do. Like you, The College Prepster was actually one of the first blogs that I found, and it totally inspired me! I can't wait to keep blogging and see what the future holds for it :)

  4. Great post Hunter! I feel the same way, I was reading all these other great blogs and thought "If they can do it, I can do it too!". The whole blogging experience has become extremely therapeutic and relaxing. I love being able to share my thoughts and ideas with people who share similar interests as me!

  5. I originally started blogging to keep my mind fresh during a couple months of unemployment, but now I use it as an outlet of my ideas and thoughts. I've also really enjoyed the blogger friends (including you) that I have met along the way!

  6. Hey - I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy your blog and I've nominated you for the Liebster Award (kind of like a chain letter thing). You can check it out on my blog: http://hyperactivedaydream.blogspot.ca

It would be awesome if you continued it, but I understand if you don't - you should, however, check it out :)

    xo, Katie

PS. I love this post - it's actually one of the answers to one of my questions related to this award! I think everyone always has their own unique reasons for why they blog, but when it comes down to it, it's all very similar reasons.

  7. Hello!
I just wanted to take this tim let you know that I love your blog and I've nominated you for the Liebster Award (kind of promoting blogs sort of thing). You can read all about at my blog thenewyorkprep.weebly.com

It would be amazing if you kept it going and continued it, but it's completely understandable if you don't! Even if you don't choose to keep it going if you could read about it and check out my blog that would really mean a lot!

    xoxo Michelle

  8. I started a blog for the same reasons as you, I loved reading other people's blogs like Carly (from TCP). I have really noticed that blogging has improved my writing skills, helping me to write better in school.

  11. Great post Hunter! I love to hear the story behind other people's blogs. I blog as a creative outlet and to just write about things that I love. There are so many reasons that I enjoy blogging, and it's great to think about them/keep them in mind when it starts to feel like a lot of work (which it definitely is!)
